One of the first houses in greater Hauppauge dates as far back as 1731 according to historian Simeon Wood. It was located on the (soon to be) Arbuckle estate located in the south east corner of the Hauppauge Industrial Park, near the intersection of Motor Parkway.
The town was primarily a Methodist society and the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal church were managed by Timothy Wheeler and Issac Wheeler.
Eventually Hauppauge was effectively split between the towns of Islip and Smithtown with the survey of a new highway known as Townline Road
Hauppauge residents are mostly retired and tend to lean conservative. There are many coffee shops, restaurants, and parks for locals and visitors to enjoy.
