The Problem We Were Called In To Solve

The owner/operator had a multi-day shutdown in a hotel with only one elevator. They were receiving many guest complaints and when they called us in for a second look, we discovered the equipment to be in extremely poor condition. The owner had no idea the equipment was being neglected and that the shutdown could have been prevented via quality maintenance/inspections

What Services We Performed and How We Solved the Issue

Island Elevator performed a complete service takeover, including:

  • 1. Initial inspection to confirm diagnosis and generate correct SOW
  • 2. Overnight shipping of parts to minimize out-of-service time
  • 3. Replaced all packing seals and check valves on the multi-stage piston
  • 4. Added hydraulic oil
  • 5. Performed comprehensive back maintenance service to restore standards to the pit, cartop, shaft, and machine room
  • 6. Painted pit and machine room to monitor potential leaks in the future
  • 7. Assessed for additional operational recommendations
  • 8. Quarterly guaranteed visits going forward with reporting sent directly to on-site management

Challenges We Solved

The previous service company was not performing any maintenance so there was a TON of dust, which we know can affect the packing seals. We took the time to remove all of the dust and restore maintenance standards to get the job done right the first time.

Helped restore trust with guests who are staying in the hotel and rectify the negative reviews coming in on Google, Tripadvisor, Yelp, etc.

Final Results

Elevator returned to service after two days on-site with a three-man team Eliminated elevator-related guest complaint
