From routine testing to full modernization, Island Elevator helps Coram property owners maintain code-compliant elevators with responsive, local support.
Coram is the oldest settlement in the central part of the Town of Brookhaven. Originally known as “Wincoram,” the name is believed to come from a Native American who lived in the area as late as 1703. The hamlet holds deep historical roots, including the Davis House, which dates back to the 1750s and is the oldest surviving structure in Coram. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
During the American Revolutionary War, Coram played a small but significant role. Benjamin Tallmadge and 12 members of the Culper Ring destroyed over 300 tons of hay the British had stored in the area to feed their horses during the winter — a major disruption to British plans.
Today, Coram is a steadily growing suburban community with residential developments, local businesses, and historical landmarks. Island Elevator is proud to support this balance of past and present by offering safe and dependable elevator solutions for all building types in the area.
