Island Elevator performs Category 1 and Category 5 tests as required by New York State. Our licensed mechanics inspect, test, and document each system according to DOB regulations, helping you avoid violations or shutdowns.
We also manage scheduling, coordinate with third-party witnesses if needed, and file all results so you’re never left chasing paperwork.

Comprehensive full-load test including brake timing, overspeed governor, hydraulic pressure checks, and system-wide evaluation.

CAT1 is due annually by the test anniversary date. CAT5 is due every five years after installation or the last CAT5.
